Ice Diamonds
Performance by Ronald Anzenberger | Iceland, 2024
Washed up by the Jökulsarlon glacier lagoon, countless crystal-clear chunks of ice lie on the pitch-black sandy beach on the south coast of Iceland, the so-called “Diamond Beach”.

To make the value of the ice tangible, Ronald Anzenberger transformed these jagged chunks of glacial ice, into ice diamonds with smooth surfaces and sharp edges.

At the end, the diamonds made of glacier ice were distributed to the visitors on the beach. The aim of the project was to create an emotional connection between the glacier and the visitors.
“The more valuable the glacier ice is depicted, the more painful the loss when it melts in the visitor's hand at the end."
